Environmental & Social Policy

Version 1.0 · Approved 8 October 2026 · Owner: Dean Harris, Founder & CEO · Next review: October 2027

Mavitra Pty Ltd (ABN 26 128 162 569), and any successor holding company. Mavitra is in early access, so where this policy describes how the service works, it describes how it is built and how it will operate as members are invited.

1. Purpose

Mavitra helps Australians use the loyalty value they already own. This policy sets out how we run the business responsibly while we do that: the environmental footprint we accept and reduce, how we treat the people who use and work with the platform, and how we hold ourselves to it. It applies to every Mavitra product, employee, contractor and supplier.

We are not a climate company and do not present ourselves as one. We are a small fintech with a light footprint and a clear duty of care to consumers, and this policy is written for that reality.

2. Principles

  1. Digital by design. Everything Mavitra issues is digital. We do not print, post or manufacture anything in the ordinary course of business.
  2. Use value, don't waste it. Our product exists so that value people have already earned is used rather than written off. That is the social purpose of the business.
  3. Consumer-safe before clever. We stay inside the instruments and rules that protect consumers (closed-loop gift cards, the Australian Consumer Law, the Privacy Act) and we do not hold customer funds.
  4. Measure, don't declare. Every commitment below has a measure and an owner. We report what we measured, including where we fell short.
  5. Proportionate. Commitments scale with the company. They are simple and cheap to keep today, and we revisit them at each funding round.

3. Environmental commitments

AreaCommitmentHow we measure it
ProductIssue eGift cards only. No plastic cards, printed vouchers or physical fulfilment.Physical items issued per year (target: zero)
CloudRun on Microsoft Azure in the Australia East region, which operates under Microsoft's carbon-negative-by-2030 commitment. Right-size services and switch off idle resources.Monthly Azure spend and the Microsoft Emissions Impact Dashboard, reviewed quarterly
EfficiencyPrefer scheduled and batched workloads where a real-time path is not needed, and archive cold data.Compute hours per 1,000 redemptions, tracked from our jobs layer
WorkRemote-first team on the Sunshine Coast. Travel only for partner and investor meetings that cannot be done online.Flights per quarter, recorded in our finance system
SuppliersPrefer gift-card distributors and service providers with a published sustainability or emissions policy, and ask for it at onboarding.Share of suppliers (by spend) with a published policy
DevicesBuy refurbished or long-life equipment where it does the job, and recycle e-waste through an accredited scheme.E-waste disposed of outside an accredited scheme (target: zero)

The Founder & CEO owns each measure until a CTO is appointed. We do not currently purchase carbon offsets. If the business reaches a size where its footprint is material, we will put measured reduction first and offsets second.

4. Social commitments

4.1 Members

  • Value, not extraction. We show members what their points are worth and what they can get, without manipulative design. No fake urgency, no dark patterns, no hidden fees. Expiry reminders are a service to the member, not a sales trigger.
  • Consumer-safe instruments. Mavitra is built to issue closed-loop Australian retailer eGift cards through licensed distributors, with the three-year minimum expiry and no post-supply fees the Australian Consumer Law requires. We do not hold member funds and do not issue stored value.
  • Nothing released before it is confirmed. A gift card is issued only after the member's loyalty program confirms the points debit. If anything fails, we tell the member plainly and the transaction carries a support reference they can quote.
  • Privacy. We collect the minimum data needed to fulfil a redemption, handle it under the Australian Privacy Principles, never sell it, and let members request deletion of their data. Partner reporting is aggregated and never identifies individuals. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Accessibility. The app and this site aim for WCAG 2.1 AA. We treat accessibility defects as bugs, not enhancements.
  • Plain language. Terms, emails and help articles are written in plain English a member can act on.
  • Support. We aim to answer member support requests within one business day, with escalation to a named person.

4.2 Partners

  • We tell programs and brands the truth about what we can do and when, and we build caps, pause and termination rights into every pilot so a partner is never locked in.
  • We never resell or share one partner's data with another. Reporting to a partner shows that partner's members only, in aggregate.

4.3 People

  • Equal opportunity in hiring, pay and promotion, with decisions recorded and reasons given.
  • Flexible, remote-first work and reasonable hours, with no expectation of out-of-hours response except for a declared incident.
  • A safe, respectful workplace. Bullying, harassment and discrimination are not tolerated, and there is a clear, confidential path to raise a concern with the CEO or, where the CEO is the subject, a nominated director or advisor.
  • Contractors are paid on agreed terms.

4.4 Community

Mavitra is a Sunshine Coast business. We contribute to the local startup community through Sunshine Coast and Queensland founder and investor networks, mentoring and events, as time allows.

5. Governance

  • Ownership. The Founder & CEO owns this policy. Technical measures move to the CTO once appointed.
  • Review. Reviewed annually (next: October 2027) and at each funding round or material change in the business. Changes are versioned and dated.
  • Reporting. We report the measures in sections 3 and 4 to the board (or, before a board exists, in the monthly investor update) at least twice a year.
  • Incidents. Any breach of this policy, privacy incident or consumer complaint about fairness is logged in our operations console with a support reference, reviewed by the CEO within five business days, and reported to investors where material.
  • Raising a concern. Anyone — member, partner, employee, contractor or supplier — can raise a concern at hello@mavitra.com or directly with the CEO. We acknowledge concerns within two business days.

6. What this policy does not claim

Mavitra does not hold a climate certification, does not measure Scope 3 emissions at this stage, and does not claim its product reduces emissions. Where we state a number, it comes from a system we run. Where we cannot measure something yet, we say so.
